(FAQ) ### General **Is CalcTape free?** On Windows, Android and in the browser, yes – the Freeware is free forever there for private use. On Mac, iPhone and iPad, CalcTape is a paid app. The Pro version with multiple documents, custom keys and more functions starts at 2.99 € per license – the exact price depends on the platform. **Can I try Pro first?** On Android, yes: the app can start a one-time trial with the full Pro feature set – 10 days, no purchase and no subscription. It ends by itself; documents you created stay readable and are read-only until you upgrade. **How is CalcTape different from a normal calculator?** The entire calculation stays visible – like on a paper tape. You change any item afterwards, add comments and create interim results. The total recalculates automatically after every change. **Can I use CalcTape commercially?** For commercial use there is the Pro and the Business version. From 25 licenses, the Business version offers, among other things, your own company logo and a custom setup (MSI) for company-wide deployment. **Which devices is CalcTape available for?** CalcTape is available for Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android as well as CalcTape Web in the browser. Saved calculations can therefore be opened and edited across platforms. ### iPhone & iPad **Is there a CalcTape for iPhone and iPad?** Yes. Windows 7 and 8 are no longer supported. **Can I download CalcTape for Windows?** Not at the moment. CalcTape for Windows is being rebuilt from the ground up; until the new version is ready we are not handing out any version. Everything else is on the [CalcTape for Windows](https://www.calctape.com/en/calctape-windows) page. **How do I install CalcTape on Windows?** The new version comes with its own setup; installation takes only a few seconds as before and requires no sign-up. Beta testers receive the file and instructions together with the invitation. The [Windows manual](https://www.calctape.com/en/manual-windows) already describes the new version. **What does the Pro version add on Windows?** Any number of files side by side instead of one file plus the scratchpad, unlimited custom keys and keyboard layouts, adding machine mode, theme editing, Excel export, automatic saving with backup, and commercial use. Named values, comments and the scratchpad are included in every edition. At [calctape.app](https://calctape.app) you can use CalcTape without installation, right in the browser – handy on someone else’s computer or for a quick try. The web app is made for the browser on a computer; on phone and tablet the apps for [Android](https://www.calctape.com/en/calctape-android) and [iPhone & iPad](https://www.calctape.com/en/calctape-ios) are the better choice.
